Statute of the Association

The foundational general act of the Urology Association in Bosnia and Herzegovina - it governs the name, objectives, membership, bodies and rules of operation.

The Statute was adopted at the founding assembly on 5 May 2026 and applies from its registration in the register of the Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina on 18 May 2026. The full text is available on request from the Association's secretariat.

I - General provisions

The Urology Association in Bosnia and Herzegovina is a voluntary, non-governmental, non-partisan and non-profit professional organization that brings together physicians specializing in urology, residents in training and other healthcare workers and experts interested in the development of urology.

Name: "Urology Association in Bosnia and Herzegovina" (also: Udruga urologa u Bosni i Hercegovini; Удружење уролога у Босни и Херцеговини). Short name: UUBIH. Name in English: Urology Association in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Headquarters: Bolnička br. 25, Clinic of Urology and Transplantation, University Clinical Center of Sarajevo, Sarajevo.

The Association has the capacity of a legal person and acts independently in legal transactions.

II - Seal and emblem

The seal is round in shape, 3 cm in diameter, bearing the full name of the Association written in the Latin script.

The emblem is circular in shape: at the center (the central circle), on a pale-blue background, is a sketch of the urinary tract; around the central circle is the name of the Association (in Bosnian and English), separated by two blue dots.

III - Objectives and activities

The objectives and activities of the Association, established by this Statute, are:

  • advancing the urological profession in Bosnia and Herzegovina;
  • promoting contemporary medical standards;
  • developing scientific research work in urology;
  • improving the education of physicians and healthcare workers;
  • organizing professional and scientific gatherings;
  • improving the quality of healthcare for patients;
  • cooperating with domestic and international professional organizations.

The Association may carry out economic activities directly connected to its objectives (publishing publications) in accordance with the law.

IV - Membership

Membership is voluntary. Members may be citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and foreign nationals who accept the Statute, objectives and activities.

Types of membership

  • Regular members - doctors of medicine specializing in urology and those in urology residency training (full decision-making rights).
  • Associate members - doctors of other specialties, healthcare workers and scientific researchers (without decision-making rights).
  • Honorary members - persons with a special contribution (without decision-making rights; conferred by the Assembly).

The decision on admission is made by the Assembly on the basis of an application form; the member is entered into the records and receives a membership card. Members pay an annual membership fee.

Termination of membership

Membership ends by withdrawal, by ceasing to pay the membership fee, by expulsion, by death or by the termination of the Association.

V - Bodies of the Association

The bodies of the Association are: the Assembly, the President, the Secretary and the Treasurer.

Assembly

The highest body of the Association, composed of all members; it adopts the statute, elects and dismisses the bodies, adopts reports, and decides on the membership fee, name, emblem, merger and termination. A regular assembly is held once a year; a quorum consists of 51% of regular members with voting rights; decisions are made by a majority vote (certain decisions by a two-thirds vote).

President

The legal representative of the Association; directs its work, prepares and convenes sessions and implements decisions. The term lasts 4 years with the possibility of re-election.

Secretary

Conducts administrative affairs, the records of members, the minutes and the communications of the Association. The term lasts 4 years.

Treasurer

Conducts treasury affairs, the records and collection of membership fees, and financial reports. The term lasts 4 years.

VI - Funds and oversight

The sources of the Association's funds are:

  • membership fees;
  • voluntary contributions and gifts;
  • state subsidies and contracts;
  • income from interest and similar sources;
  • income from carrying out objectives and activities;
  • other income in accordance with the law.

The Association operates on the principles of a non-profit organization; any profit is directed toward expanding capacity and activities. Oversight of the use of funds is carried out by the Assembly.

VII - Transparency of operations

The work of the Association is public. The Association enables oversight of the legality of its work by the competent Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina and makes information about its work available to the membership and to the media. The president is responsible for informing the membership. Proper bookkeeping is maintained and financial reports are submitted in accordance with the regulations.

VIII - Status changes and termination

The Association is established for an indefinite period. It may cease to operate voluntarily (by a decision of the Assembly taken by a two-thirds majority) or by operation of law. In the event of termination, after the settlement of obligations, the assets are allocated to another association that carries out the same or similar activities, on the basis of a decision of the Assembly.
